A Message From Your Gall Bladder
Dear Friend,
This is your gall bladder speaking to you and I have an urgent message. You and I have been together for a long time now and I would like to keep it that way. Even though our relationship hasn’t always been a smooth one, we both do better when we have each other. I do not want to be like the other 600,000 Americans last year who got “divorced” from their gall bladders. That is a short-sighted approach to a problem that can be fixed with “couples therapy”.
I have to tell you, often times I feel unappreciated and very neglected. You take me for granted and only seem to acknowledge me when we have an argument and I flare up. You may not know this but you need me to properly digest your food, particularly fats.
When you eat, I have to release bile to emulsify fat in the intestines. Problems arise when bile does not get released or gall stones form. Indigestion and pain can be the consequence.
Stones that get too large may need to be removed surgically, not a fun procedure for either of us, but this is usually a last resort. If bile isn’t being released normally, it can back up and become like old, dirty motor oil in your car. When this happens the best approach is to aid my function by thinning the bile with lecithin, along with dietary changes that help to alleviate digestive stress. When I get sluggish I sometimes feel irritable, impatient, and can be down right difficult to live with. But there is hope!
There are some herbs that help me function such as ginger and turmeric. The enzyme lipase helps me to digest fats, and like I said, lecithin is great for thinning the bile. Ox Bile really isn’t as bad as it sounds and it can be helpful if I am giving you certain signs, and is a must for those that have already been separated from their gall bladders. For my friends who have already parted ways, you can still support the relationship to where there are no hard feelings or lingering pain.

Thanks for listening. Remember, if we work on this relationship, there is no reason why we can’t stay together forever and live happily ever after.
Sincerely,
Your Gall Bladder
